
Resident Clinical Coordinator (Assistant Director of Care)

Located in the heart of Sydney, the Cove Guest Home is a fully accredited, 110-bed long-term care facility that has been a trusted name in compassionate care for over 80 years. Known throughout the community as a leader in resident-centered services, we take pride in our collaborative team culture and warm, supportive environment. We’re currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Resident Clinical Coordinator to join our management team and help us continue delivering excellence in long-term care.
Your Role
Under the direction of the Director of Care, as the Resident Clinical Coordinator, you will assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centered care in accordance with provincial legislation and other applicable legislation and regulations, the Cove Guest Home’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with individual plans of care for residents. You’ll lead a team of care professionals, support best practices, and foster a positive work culture that prioritizes resident comfort and satisfaction.
As a key member of the management team, you will assist in identifying areas of improvement for staff development and work with the Director of Care to ensure overall effectiveness of training. In the absence of the Director of Care, the Resident Clinical Coordinator will assume the management duties of the Director of Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily resident care services and departmental operations.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Coordinate bed utilization including admissions, discharges and in house transfers.
- Manage health records following discharge.
- Support staff training, orientation, and performance development.
- Maintain an active presence in the facility to ensure care meets compliance requirements.
- Monitor resident care outcomes and adjust services to meet evolving needs.
- Liaise with families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Participate in budgeting, resource management, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Promote a respectful, team-oriented work environment.
- Act as designated staff health nurse.
- Participate in various committees.
What You Bring to the Table
As a compassionate and organized leader with strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to resident-centered care and team collaboration, you will bring:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is preferred.
- Post-RN management studies or equivalent leadership training.
- Registered Nurse in good standing without restrictions or conditions from the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in healthcare, preferably long-term care.
- Strong knowledge of geriatric care, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conflict resolution, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations calmly, respectfully, and effectively while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Proficient in Pathways, Staff Schedule Care, Catalyst and Microsoft systems.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to assist residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability.
- The Cove Guest Home operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The successful candidate must be available on call to the RN Supervisors outside of business hours, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
