LICENCED PRACTICAL NURSE – CASUAL

Facility: The Meadows ARC, 200 Church Street, Bridgetown, NS B0S 1C0

Work Schedule: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Holidays -- 8 and 12 hours shifts

Union: SEIU

Salary: $29.52-$32.91

 

POSITION SCOPE:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide nursing care to residents in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Resident Care or designate. The LPN will perform resident care procedures in accordance with the LPN scope of practice including medication delivery. The LPN will supervise the care provided by front line staff and provide direction when necessary. LPNs must be flexible and able to work both independently and in a team environment. They will have excellent organization and communication skills with a strong attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend and participate in nursing conferences at beginning and end of your shift, to exchange information on residents in your care.
  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care/plans for residents.
  • Monitor vital signs and intake and output.
  • Medication administration
  • Documentation of all aspects of care and completion of reports as required by the facility (i.e. daily communication report, incident reports etc.)
  • Share in observing changes in residents’ condition and collaborate with the RN
  • Provide physical assistance to residents in moving and getting positioned in bed, getting in and out of bed, walking, simple exercising, and dressing/ undressing, washing and hygiene care.
  • Transport resident to various areas of the home.
  • Assist in preparation of deceased for removal from unit.
  • Develop and maintain good public relations with residents and staff and visitors.
  • Answer phone and resident’s signal system, receiving and relaying information.
  • Attend in- service, workshops and required education if available with permission of Director of Resident Care


MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Eligible for licensure by the College of Nurses for Nova Scotia
