Starting Your Career in Continuing Care with Free Tuition

Thank you for joining the Continuing Care sector in Nova Scotia! Continuing Care is a great place to work, and we are happy to have you!

Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) are a valued member of the care team and offer invaluable assistance to our clients. Your contribution to healthcare is immeasurable!

To encourage more participation in the CCA workforce, the Government of Nova Scotia is offering free tuition to eligible applicants. To receive CCA Free Tuition and textbooks ALL recipients must sign a Return of Service Agreement (ROSA) which requires recipients to work full-time in the Nova Scotia publicly funded continuing care sector for two years post-graduation.

Free Tuition Details

Tuition for the CCA program is covered by the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care (SLTC). In exchange for Free Tuition and textbooks, recipients must be willing to work as a CCA in the publicly funded Nova Scotia continuing care sector for two years post-graduation. Should a participant not complete two years in an eligible position, they will be required to repay a prorated portion of the tuition costs. NOTE: Any hours worked in Continuing Care during your program DO NOT contribute towards your ROSA commitment. Only hours worked post-graduation will count toward this agreement. To be eligible, an individual must be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada in order to participate.

Whether you are from Nova Scotia or another province, we want to provide a seamless pathway for each Certified CCA to find employment that they will love and enjoy! To help with this process we have partnered with the Health Association Nova Scotia (HANS) who can assist you in finding part-time work during your studies and a permanent job following your graduation.

Sign the Return of Service Agreement (ROSA)

The first step in signing the ROSA is registering with the Nova Scotia Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care via the Office of Healthcare Professionals Recruitment (OHPR). Our partnership with OHPR enables us to efficiently record your ROSA, quickly provide payment of tuition to your school, and connect with you about your ROSA until your commitment is complete. Register here to indicate your interest in Free Tuition and a return of service agreement! [link to form]
